Right on Time

Today was my first day back at work for the 2015-2016 school year. People who know me well know that I have a love-hate relationship with work. I love being productive and pouring myself into projects and people; I hate having a schedule and deadlines. In usual Bunkley Compound fashion my first day back was full of shenanigans. Just as I was sitting on the side of the bed willing myself to clean one of my children’s bodily fluids off my carpet I received a text from a sister-friend. When I read it, all I could do was shake my head and say, “Okay, Lord…I know.”

Yesterday I blogged about making sure that we don’t get too busy around the compound that we neglect building and maintaining an intimate relationship with God. The text I received was about an app called First 5. It’s a daily devotional that is also an alarm clock (which I have to set or I’d be REALLY late to work everyday). When you turn it off the app takes you to a scriptural reference and a devotion that takes about five minutes to complete. The about section actually says the devotional was written to allow you to ‘first thing in the morning, so you can exchange whispers with God before shouts with the world’. I got goosebumps!

I used to believe in coincidences; that random things happened in my life and they weren’t connected. When I understood that God sees and knows EVERYTHING that’s going to happen and even when we use the free will He has given us, His plans will ALWAYS come to fruition, I put that aside. It’s not a coincidence that my sister read my post; nor is it a coincidence that she happened to see someone else talking about that app on Facebook last week. And I KNOW it wasn’t a coincidence that she sent me that text just as I was about to crawl back in bed and declare that I was done with the day before it had even started.

God knows exactly what we need, when we need it. It’s like the song says, “He’s an on time God; yes He is”.

Until next time…
