Talk to Me

I’m a talker – I know that will come as a complete and utter shock to those who know me. I’ve always been a talker. Whether it’s face-to-face, through texts, on the phone, any way I can, I love to engage with people. Some people would say I’m nosey; but really it’s all part of my evil plan to get to know the people I’m around the most so that I can understand them better so I can serve them better. I know! Crazy right?!

We live in a world that’s filled with apps and websites that allow us to be social…except it keeps us from having a good old fashioned conversation with people. These days, when someone asks you how you’re doing, chances are they don’t really want to know. But I really do want to know. You see if I can really talk to you, I can maybe understand why you do the things you do. I can maybe understand why there’s things I couldn’t/shouldn’t say to you. I can understand what’s really behind the look on your face. In my current job I HAVE to know the people I’m working with so I can serve them better. And in every meaningful relationship I have, I HAVE to know those people well so I can serve them better.

And when it’s all said and done, the best listener I know is God. He knows us better than anyone and He gives the best advice. His service is outstanding and He’s always available. But there’s a catch…you have to know Him. You have to commit to a relationship with Him. If He asks, How are you doing?’, would you know it was HIm?

Until next time…
